Enrollment Requirements For Middle And High Schools
Enrolling in Amarillo ISD Schools Middle and High School
Welcome to Amarillo ISD!
Parents moving into Amarillo should register their children for school as soon as possible. For back-to-school registration, much of the registration process can now be completed online through the Skyward Family Access account. There are still a few things (such as proof of residency, free/reduced lunch applications, and picking up class schedules) that must be taken care of during traditional, on-site registration, usually at the end of July/beginning of August.
During the school year, students may be registered at any time during the school day. Students are assigned to a particular AISD campus according to their home address, and must register at their assigned school. To find out which school your child will attend, please call the AISD Student Records Office at (806) 326-1350. To enroll your child, you will need to bring the following documents.
Required Documents
The following documents are required for all students who are enrolling in Amarillo ISD for the first time.
(BRING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING)
- Birth certificate and social security card (if available).
- Withdrawal form from previous school (if appropriate) and/or last report card or transcript.
- Name and address of most recent school attended if the school was in another district. (AISD will request records from the previous school.)
- Immunization records.
- Proof of residence. (BRING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING)
- A current utility bill (gas, electric, water, or cable/satellite, not phone or cell phone).
- A recent (within the last 60 days) rent receipt, or a current lease or rental agreement.
- The most recent mortgage statement, copy of a tax return, or tax receipt showing home ownership, or a contract to purchase or build a house.
Immunization Requirements
Visit Immunization Requirements and Student Health Services for information regarding required immunizations or talk to your school nurse.
Flexible Enrollment/Transfers
Amarillo ISD students may apply for a transfer from one school to another within the District. Students who live outside the District may also apply for a transfer to a school within AISD Transfer requests are accepted on a space available basis and must be applied for annually. The District may charge tuition for out-of-district transfers. Transfer applications are available at all AISD campuses and should be submitted to the receiving school by May 1 for the next school year. For more information about transfer procedures, students/parents should contact either the principal of the school they wish to attend or the principal of their current school.
